Oppn running smear campaign against health insurance scheme: AAP
Chandigarh, March 30 -- The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday accused the Opposition of running a deliberate campaign to mislead people on the Rs.10 lakh health insurance scheme, using isolated incidents from non-empanelled hospitals to falsely projectfailure.
The AAP said that over 1.72 lakh patients had already received treatment worth Rs.292 crore, asserting that the attempt to distort facts reflected either a lack of basic understanding of how such schemes function or a calculated effort to create confusion among beneficiaries and weaken a major public welfare initiative. Responding to claims made by Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa, who had shared a video of a patient from Amritsar, health minister Dr Balbir Singh said that the hospital shown in the video, Shoor Hospital, was not empanelled under the health scheme. He added that more than 600 private hospitals were empanelled under the scheme, and treatment benefits were available only in these registered institutions. HTC...
