Mohali, April 19 -- As many as 10 persons have been arrested in connection with an online fraud racket, Zirakpur police said on Saturday. The accused used to contact foreign nationals through online calls to lure them with low-interest loan offers. They convinced the victims to pay processing fees or advance charges. The arrested persons have been identified as Melvin Thakkar (kingpin), Anirudh Palhaniya, Anant Dev Kaushik, Pawan Pandevar, Sonu Diyali, Milan Sunwar, Ashiq Darji, Arjun Shetri, Prashant Om Prakash Jaiswal and Palwinder Singh. Police said the accused were operating from rented flats. SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans said nine laptops and 10 mobile phones had been recovered from their possession. A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act at Zirakpur police station, officials added. htc...
