Ferozepur, Feb. 20 -- The Ferozepur police have arrested a man and recovered 6.38kg of heroin from his possession during a special anti-drug operation conducted in the district on Thursday. Senior superintendent of police Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said that a team of the CIA staff, Ferozepur, intercepted a suspect during a naka checking operation on the Ferozepur-Mallanwala road on Thursday. "During the search, police recovered 6.38 kg of heroin from the possession of the accused, identified as Sonu Singh, who was immediately taken into custody. A case has been registered against him under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway," he said. Police said efforts are being made to trace the source of the contraband and identify other individuals involved in the network.
