Chandigarh, Feb. 20 -- Ending any scope for grace marks and tightening promotion rules, the District Education Office (DEO), UT Chandigarh, has announced that students of Classes 5 and 8 may be detained if they fail to secure minimum grades even after remedial measures under the 2025-26 result policy. As per the order, students of Classes 3 to 8 must secure a minimum 'D' grade in internal assessment and final examinations taken together. While Classes 3, 4, 6 and 7 will not see any student held back, those securing an 'E' grade will be given a chance to improve in the last week of April 2026 with remedial support. For Classes 5 and 8, however, students failing to secure a minimum 'D' even after two months of remedial measures may be detained as per policy. At the secondary level, Class 9 students must score at least 33% marks (internal and final combined) in all subjects, with compartment allowed in up to two subjects. Class 11 students must secure 33% separately in theory and practical/internal assessments, with compartment permitted in one subject only. Results will be declared on March 30, 2026. htc...
