Narcotics-linked assets worth Rs.6.5 cr attached in Anantnag
Srinagar, May 9 -- Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday attached properties worth over Rs.6.5 crore, allegedly acquired through illicit drug trafficking, in the Anantnag district, said officials.
"In continuation of its sustained and aggressive crackdown against the narcotics network, in Anantnag action was initiated by attachment/seizure proceedings under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Act against Bashir Ahmad Mir and his family members, all from Doonipora Sangam," a police spokesperson said.
An enquiry was conducted under the NDPS Act which revealed that the family had amassed huge movable and immovable assets disproportionate to their known lawful sources of income, the spokesperson added.
"The enquiry further established that these properties were jointly held by family members and are suspected to have been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trade," he further said, adding that during probe, family's criminal history came to light, revealing that three FIRs filed under the NDPS Act.
"The properties attached/seized include double-storeyed residential house, a newly constructed residential house, a commercial building, 211 marlas of land and a car," he said.htc...
