Mimi Chakraborty files police complaint over harassment on stage
India, Jan. 28 -- Just days after actor Mouni Roy spoke about a shocking harassment incident in Karnal, Haryana, former Member of Parliament and Bengali actor Mimi Chakraborty lodged a police complaint on Monday, alleging harassment during a live performance in West Bengal's Bongaon. The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday night, when the 36-year-old had been invited to perform at an event organised by the Naya Gopal Gunj Yubak Sango Club.
In her complaint submitted via email, Chakraborty accused one of the organisers of forcibly interrupting her performance and asking her to step down around midnight, in an episode she later described as "deeply humiliating."
Sharing the ordeal on social media on Monday, she wrote, "There were many people waiting to see me and meet me, including fans who had come for a picture. Leaving the stage that way, followed by derogatory remarks on the microphone, was not just humiliating; it defamed me publicly. I left quietly to maintain decorum. I have now taken the matter to the appropriate legal authorities and believe in due process. If I keep quiet today, this behaviour will be repeated tomorrow.
