Chandigarh, Feb. 4 -- A local court has sentenced a Sector 32 resident to three years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for sexually assaulting a minor boy near Nirman Cinema in June 2024. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.5,000 on him. As per information, the boy was playing in the neighbourhood when the accused approached him and took him to the Cinema hall and sexually assaulted him. The boy managed to escape and confided in his uncle who submitted a complaint to the police, they added. The man was subsequently arrested. A case under Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered at the Sector 34 police station. A detailed order of the judgment is awaited....
