Man duped of Rs.15L on promise of Germany work permit
Mohali, April 1 -- A man from Dhakoli was duped of Rs.15 lakh by two alleged immigration agents who promised to send him to Germany on a work permit.
Complainant Pardeep Gupta told the police that the accused Manish of Nabha and Rajiv of Yamunanagar approached him in June 2025 claiming expertise in overseas placements.
Gupta said the duo finalised a Rs.22-lakh deal covering the visa, passport and work permit process.
Gupta paid Rs.5 lakh first and Rs.10 lakh later, both in cash near Metro Mall, Zirakpur, in the presence of witness Johny Singh. According to the FIR, the accused stopped responding after six months and failed to produce any document related to the promised work permit.
After inquiring about the payments, Gupta found that Manish was not staying at his given address. Officials contacted Manish on phone, although he initially agreed to join the investigation but did not appear. Rajiv, the other accused, also did not present any documents or explanation.
Zirakpur police has registered a case under Sections 316(2) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said they are now tracing the accused, checking their financial transactions, and verifying if they targeted others in a similar manner....
