Gurugram, April 20 -- A man died and another person was injured after a speeding Mahindra Thar hit them near Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) on Saturday afternoon, with the driver fleeing the spot, police said on Sunday. The deceased, identified as Sriram, a driver employed with Suraj International School, was on foot and stepping out of the school premises between 12pm and 1pm when the SUV struck him with significant force, leaving him critically injured, police said. He was taken to a nearby private hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning, they added. Police said the accused driver fled immediately after the collision. During the escape, the vehicle struck another person, who sustained injuries and is currently admitted to a hospital. The identity and contact details of the second injured person are yet to be established. An FIR has been registered under sections 125 (act endangering public life and safety), 106 (death by negligence), and 281 (rash or negligent driving) of BNS.
