Maha govt, Taksal host event in Mumbai
Amritsar, March 1 -- A two-day function commenced on Saturday in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur and the 350th Guruship Day of Guru Gobind Singh.
The event is being organised with support from the Maharashtra government and under the patronage of Damdami Taksal chief Harnam Singh Dhumma.
Addressing the gathering, Dhumma thanked chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for facilitating the celebrations on a grand scale, highlighting that the efforts of the Maharashtra government have made every child in the state aware of Guru Tegh Bahadur's sacrifice for religious freedom and human rights.
"The main purpose of these centenary celebrations is to pass on the message of religious liberty, humanity and justice to the younger generation," said Dhumma.
He also expressed gratitude to the Lubana, Sindhi, Vanjara, Sikkaligar, Moheal and Valmiki communities, as well as religious groups like the Bhagat Namdev Ji Sampraday, Udasi Sant Samaj and Hazuri Khalsa, for for contributing to the event's success.
