PANCHKULA, March 6 -- The district police have arrested a juvenile allegedly involved in the brutal murder of a 29-year-old newly married man during a robbery near Zirakpur-Kalka national highway. The victim, Deepak, a resident of Mamta Enclave in Dhakoli and a native of Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh, worked at a call centre in Sector 7 and was heading home from his night shift when the incident occurred. The attack took around 2:30 am during the intervening night of March 2 and 3 in Sector 12. Deepak had stopped his motorcycle to speak with a friend on his mobile phone when the accused approached him. When Deepak resisted their attempt to rob his phone, the allegedly stabbed him multiple times and fled the scene with the device. He later succumbed to the fatal knife injuries. Within 24 hours of the incident, the police arrested the prime accused, a native of the Gopalganj district in Bihar. He had been taken into a three-day police remand. While the two accused are now in custody, police are still working to recover the murder weapon, the victim's mobile phone, and the blood-stained clothing worn by the accused during the attack. Police said both accused were under the influence of drugs at the time of the crime.
