Intrusion bid foiled, Pak terrorist killed
Srinagar, March 16 -- An infiltration attempt was foiled and a Pak terrorist was killed in an operation by security forces near Line of Control in Uri on Sunday, army said.
Officials said that the army and police launched a joint operation to thwart an infiltration attempt on LoC last night in Uri in North Kashmir's Baramulla district after they got an intel from Jammu and Kashmir Police.
"Based on a specific intelligence input provided by JKP regarding an infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched on the intervening night of March 14-15 in Buchhar, Uri sector. Alert troops spotted suspicious movement of a terrorist in the thicket. The ambush was readjusted," Chinar Corps said in a post on social networking site X.
"In the (retaliatory) contact, a Pak terrorist was eliminated," they further wrote on X.
The police have not yet identified the terrorist.
The forces also recovered warlike stores including anAK rifle, pistols and a large quantity of ammunition from the spot.
"The (search) operation continues," the army said.
Army Commander Northern Command Lt Gen Pratik Sharma complimented the soldiers of Chinar Corps for foiling the infiltration bid. "Northern Command stands by its commitment to keep Jammu Kashmir terror-free," a statement said....
