Chandigarh, Feb. 4 -- The health department's "Geriatric Care at Doorstep" initiative has recorded an encouraging response with 98 senior citizens using the helpline to receive medical aid at home in the last four months. The initiative, aimed at providing medical assistance at the homes of senior citizens aged above 80 years, was initially launched on pilot basis. The medical team services are available from Monday to Saturday between 9 am to 2 pm. On booking an appointment over department's helpline (0172-278245), a medical team consisting of an MBBS doctor (medical officer), nurse, pharmacist, and physiotherapist visit the concerned patient with an ambulance with basic medicines, oxygen support, vital monitoring equipment.
