Chandigarh, April 4 -- Haryana government on Friday approved Rs.747 crore budget for 2026-27 fiscal under Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman Scheme, a flagship programme aimed at strengthening nutritional support of schoolchildren across the state. Under the approved outlay, Rs.222 crore is a central share, while the state share is Rs.525 crore. Chief secretary (CS) Anurag Rastogi chaired a meeting on Friday and reviewed the programme's current implementation status, financial performance, and roadmap for the year ahead. Director, elementary education, Manita Malik, said that over 14.8 lakh children - from Bal Vatika to upper primary classes - are proposed to be covered under the scheme in the upcoming financial year. The committee reviewed the existing meal menu and nutritional interventions being provided to students, which include supplementary items such as milk, protein-based food products, peanut pinni, and instant kheer.
