Shimla, April 3 -- The Himachal Pradesh government on Thursday notified the revised rates of entry tax on certain categories of vehicles. The rates were rationalised following massive protests in the border areas of Himachal and Punjab. Earlier during the day, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had said that the state government would issue a notification on revised entry tax and toll provisions by the evening. As per notification, the entry tax for passenger vehicle upto 12+1 seater would Rs.100, Light commercial vehicle, mini bus and six tyre truck Rs.320 and 10-14 tyre truck Rs.570. Speaking to media on Thursday after assembly session, Sukhu said light commercial vehicles such as pickups, small goods carriers ("Chhota Hathi"), and three-wheelers registered in Himachal Pradesh have been exempted from toll. "We have exempted light commercial vehicles like pickups and three-wheelers from toll to provide relief to local operators," he said. "In addition, we have reduced the entry tax for light passenger vehicles coming from other states from Rs.130 to Rs.100," Sukhu added.
