Chandigarh, Jan. 30 -- The Punjab and Haryana high court (HC) has restrained Punjab State Human Rights Commission from summoning officials of Max Super Specialty Hospital, Mohali in a proceeding initiated by the commission. The HC bench of chief justice Sheel Nagu and justice Sanjiv Berry acted on the plea from the hospital. The commission had initiated suo motu complaint on December 16, 2025, on an order passed by commission, while taking cognisance of a vernacular report that hospital demanded Rs.7.21 lakh to release body to relatives of a patient from Patiala. The hospital had pointed to "procedural lapses" in taking up the matter by the commission and had also objected to a commission member live-streaming the proceedings on social media platforms.
