"On April 5, after the father lodged a complaint, the accused and three accomplices confronted them outside their home, hurled abuses, and physically attacked the father. Terrified by the assault, the girl ran inside, poured diesel over herself, and set herself ablaze," said additional superintendent of police, Sagar, Lokesh Sinha. Family members managed to extinguish the flames, but she sustained severe burns on her neck, chest, and hands, the officer said. She has been admitted to a hospital in Sagar.
