Geet vs Margot:Internet says, Bebo first

BTS clip of actor-producer Margot Robbie twirling through lush greenery in the United Kingdom for Wuthering Heights has set off a lively debate across the Indian internet. Netizens were quick to note that her outfit, a vibrant red skirt, white puff-sleeved shirt and black corset, bears a striking resemblance to actor Kareena Kapoor Khan's iconic look from 2007's Jab We Met song Yeh Ishq Haaye.
In an interview with News Sydney, actor Jacob Elordi revealed that Margot had mastered the full Kate Bush Wuthering Heights dance on set. "I have 16mm footage of her doing the dance," he said. As the clip circulated, Bollywood fans flooded X with reactions such as "Bebo did it first", "This dress is giving Geet", and even "My culture is not your costume".
However, fashion experts say the comparison may be more nostalgic than factual. Designer Rina Dhaka points out that the silhouette predates Bollywood. "It was Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music (1965) who popularised this look. The film's most iconic pasture shot features the same pinafore silhouette. We also see a similar palette in Judy Garland's wardrobe in The Pirate (1948)," she says.
Dhaka adds that it is unlikely Kareena's look served as the reference. "Designers usually draw from specific historical eras and then modernise them. Western designers generally aren't looking at our film history for cues. Being compared to Margot Robbie is a compliment, but this silhouette is ultimately a modern take on a much older Western aesthetic."...
