Chandigarh, April 5 -- Over a fortnight after a property dealer was shot dead in Chandigarh's Sector 9, the crime branch of UT Police has claimed a major breakthrough, arresting three persons who allegedly assisted the shooters in executing the crime. The accused have been identified as Janu Malik, a resident of Jujhar Nagar in Mohali, Kamalpreet of Burail, and Rahul Sharma of Maloya village. According to police officials, the trio played a key logistical role in the murder of Charanpreet by facilitating the movement and stay of the shooters. A pistol has also been recovered from the arrested accused. Police said the accused arranged motorcycles, provided financial support, and maintained constant contact with the shooters. Police further revealed that they tracked the shooters' movements, including their hideouts and travel routes, to help them evade detection. Investigators are also probing the suspected role of foreign-based gangster Lucky Patial in orchestrating the murder.
