FIR against Cong workers: Barnala MLA calls off hunger strike
Barnala, May 7 -- Hours after launching an indefinite hunger strike outside the District Administrative Complex on Wednesday over an allegedly fabricated FIR against 20 Congress workers, Barnala MLA Kuldeep Singh Kala Dhillon ended his protest after administrative assurances.
Barnala DSP Satvir Singh said a special investigation team, comprising himself, an SHO and a senior official, had been formed to look into the matter.
The FIR was lodged on April 14 following a Congress protest against non-payment of the Rs.1,000 monthly allowance for women, promised by the AAP government.
DSP Satvir Singh said the protesters blocked both sides of the road at Kacheri Chowk, obstructing traffic. The FIR, lodged on a complaint by sub-inspector (SI) Balwinder Singh, states that when the protesters were asked to clear the road, they shoved and pushed the police party.
