Ex-BJP MLA's son booked for attack on bureaucrat's son
Dehradun, Nov. 17 -- A case has been registered against former BJP MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh "Champion's" son, Divye Pratap, along with the legislator's gunner for allegedly assaulting Uttarakhand's former chief secretary S Ramaswamy's son, R Yashovardhan and his driver in Dehradun, police said, adding that a Haridwar police constable allegedly involved in the assault has also been suspended.
The FIR in the matter was registered on Saturday under relevant sections of the BNS at Rajpur police station.
In the complaint, Yashovardhan said, "(On Friday evening) I was travelling from Dilaram to Sai Mandir, Dehradun. As we were coming from the Pacific Mall side, a vehicle began following us and attempted to overtake us. Due to limited space, we were unable to give way." "Near the Mussoorie diversion, a white Land Cruiser (registration UK 07 DN 0001), supported by a white Bolero (registration UK 17), intercepted us. The occupants of the Land Cruiser got down. They were aided by personnel of the Uttarakhand Police."
"They dragged me and my driver out of our vehicle. I was struck on my back and hands, while a Uttarakhand police constable repeatedly kicked me on the road. They also snatched our phones and continued assaulting us with kicks and sticks."
Dehradun SSP Ajai Singh said, "We have identified the accused as former MLA Kunwar Singh's son Divye and his gunner and sent them notices. We alsosent a communication to Haridwar police regarding the constable's role in the matter. He has been suspended by Haridwar police."htc...
