Ex-armyman hacked to death
Tarn Taran, Feb. 6 -- A 36-year-old former armyman was allegedly hacked to death with sharp-edged weapons over an old enmity in Cheema Khurd village of the Khemkaran area in Tarn Taran district on Thursday.
The victim, Gurmej Singh 36, had recently completed his service in the army. He leaves behind his wife and two daughters. The victim's wife and brother told the police that Gurmej was standing in his village when former sarpanch Sharanjit Singh, who is associated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), along with his accomplices, surrounded him and attacked him over long-standing personal enmity, killing him on the spot.
Confirming the incident, DSP Jagjit Singh said a case had been registered and strict legal action was being taken against the accused. Police sent the body to the Patti civil hospital for post-mortem examination....
