Enhancing IVF success through laparoscopic precision
India, Feb. 22 -- Laparoscopic techniques help many people with fertility problems, especially during IVF treatment. IVF, or in vitro fertilization, means taking eggs from a woman's body, mixing them with sperm in a lab, and putting the embryo back in the uterus. But sometimes, issues inside the body block success. Laparoscopy fixes that. It's a simple surgery using a tiny camera on a thin tube pushed through small cuts in the belly. Doctors use it to see and treat problems like blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, scar tissue, or cysts.
The doctor gives medicine for sleep during the 30-60 minute procedure. They pump gas into the belly to make space and see organs clearly - ovaries, tubes, and uterus. For diagnosis, they check for hidden issues that scans miss. For treatment, they cut away bad tissue, open tubes, or remove cysts and fibroids right then. Patients go home the same day, feel better in a few days, and have tiny scars unlike big open surgery.
Laparoscopy often happens before IVF cycles. It finds out why IVF failed before or boosts chances by fixing problems first. Studies show pregnancy rates can jump from about 20% to over 40% after it. Some women even get pregnant naturally without more IVF. It's safe, with low risks like bleeding or infection.
This approach reduces pain, shortens recovery time and helps avoid the financial burden of repeated IVF attempts. Even in 2026, doctors recommend it for complex cases, combining surgical expertise with IVF to improve the chances of healthy pregnancies.
