Mumbai/Chandigarh, Feb. 1 -- Stand-in captain Ayush Doseja, showed why he has been this season's highest run scorer. The busy left-hander, in what has otherwise been a forgettable season for Delhi, kept his team in the hunt with his unbeaten 62 against Mumbai on Saturday at the Sharad Pawar Academy ground. At close of Day 3 in the last of the Ranji Trophy league stage matches, Delhi were 206/4 in the second innings, 110 runs ahead. Still not out of the woods against the dominant home side, things could have been worse but for Doseja's 106-run fourth wicket stand with Vaibhav Khandpal (61). Earlier, Delhi pacers did some good work by bowling in consistent channels. The overnight centurion Siddhesh Lad (103) fell early to a sharp delivery from Money Grewal that held its line. Suved Parker (58) soon became one of Divij Mehra's five scalps. The tall pacer's nagging line and length bowling meant Mumbai were able to add only 51 more runs for the last five wickets. Despite an average day, with early morning juice on offer and enough turn too, Mumbai bowlers will push for an outright win on the final day. With the first innings lead in the bag, Mumbai are already on course to top the table and enter the quarter-finals. Chandigarh were handed an innings and 56-run defeat by Saurashtra on Day 3 of their Group B encounter at the Sector 16 cricket stadium in Chandigarh on Saturday. Saurashtra are now second, behind MP, in the group. Saurashtra will qualify if Karnataka fail to beat Punjab in Mohali on Sunday. Karnataka took a crucial seven-run first-innings lead (316 all out in reply to Punjab's 309) before Punjab reached 119/3 at stumps in the second innings.
