Panchkula, March 8 -- Patients were at the receiving end as services at Panchkula's Sector 6 civil hospital were disrupted due to a state-wide strike by doctors on Saturday. Officials said nearly 2,000 outpatient department (OPD) cards were issued till 2 pm. Many patients said they couldn't receive timely treatment due to the disruption. Principal medical officer Dr RS Chauhan said emergency services and critical care units, including the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), were not affected by the strike. The situation at other government health centres across the district was no different. The Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA) had called for the one-day suspension of OPD services across the state as they sought an FIR against the station house officer (SHO) of Gharaunda and other police personnel for allegedly assaulting an on-duty doctor.
