Debarred from exam, alleges Barnala girl, probe ordered
Barnala, Feb. 20 -- The district education department has initiated an inquiry after a Class 8 student alleged that she was unfairly stopped from appearing in PSEB board examinations at Shaheed Sardar Sewa Singh Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Thikriwala.
While the student's family claimed that school authorities did not allow Dilpreet Kaur to appear for her English exam on February 17 and Punjabi exam on February 19 even after issuing a roll number, Barnala deputy commissioner (DC) Harpreet Singh said her attendance, at 33%, was far below the mandatory 75% requirement. The family alleged that the school principal had been harassing their three daughters. Parents Sukhwinder Singh and Sumandeep Kaur alleged that the harassment began after they objected to the principal visiting their house. The DC said the district education officer had referred the matter to the education secretary for a solution and constituted a panel to visit the school to verify allegations....
