DC office auctions bizman's Sec-9 house
Chandigarh, Feb. 24 -- Acting on the directions of the Bombay high court (HC), the Chandigarh deputy commissioner (DC)'s office on Monday took possession of a four-kanal house in Sector 9 after an eviction drive.
The property, House No 341 in Sector 9, was auctioned as its owner, reportedly a Punjab-based rice miller, had outstanding liabilities running into over Rs.1,000 crore. The estate was attached and auctioned under court orders to recover the dues. The bungalow is estimated to be worth over Rs.50 crore in the open market.
A team led by tehsildar Punyadeep carried out the eviction and possession proceedings. After completing the formalities, the DC office handed over vacant possession of the property to the successful bidder....
