Chandigarh, Jan. 11 -- Congress has expressed its dismay over the recent statement of Punjab governor and UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, rejecting the proposal for setting up Metro Mass Rapid Transport System in Chandigarh and nearby areas. Alleging that the people of Chandigarh have been taken for a ride once again, party's chief spokesperson Rajiv Sharma said the expert committee of Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) has on multiple occasions recommended Metro for the city and surrounding area, as the only solution to tackle the fast rising traffic snarls. The Congress spokesperson further said while the city MP Manish Tewari has been taking up the project at the Centre and has formerly demanded an immediate transfer of Rs.25,000 crore to kick-start the project, the UT administrator has almost derailed the ambitious project just like former MP Kiran Kher did so in the year 2014-15. The Congress spokesperson added that some inconvenience is bound to occur, while the land is dug for setting up a new project but it was not right for the administrator totrash the project on this ground....
