Class-12 student shot dead in Amritsar
Amritsar, May 4 -- A Class 12 student was shot dead by unidentified attackers near Mehta Chowk-Mehsmipur Road in Amritsar on Saturday night.
According to police officials, the assailants opened fire on Amarjot Singh and fled immediately, leaving him dead at the scene. Initially, the police were informed about a road accident, but upon arrival, they discovered bullet injuries on the body, confirming that the death was caused by gunfire.
Preliminary findings indicate that the victim was shot twice at close range, resulting in fatal injuries.
Senior officers, including senior superintendent of police (Rural) Sohail Qasim Mir, reached the spot to assess the situation. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
SSP Qasim Mir said the motive behind the killing remained unknown and that the police were exploring all possible angles.
