Chhattisgarh inch closer to win against Chandigarh
Chandigarh, Feb. 2 -- Chhattisgarh moved closer to a win against Chandigarh on the third day of their Col CK Nayudu Trophy match at the GMSSS Sector-26 Cricket Ground on Sunday.
After taking a slender four-run first-innings lead, Chhattisgarh finished the day at 57 for 2 in their second innings. They now require another 121 runs to win, with eight wickets in hand. Chandigarh were bowled out for 143 in their second innings, despite a fighting knock from Arnav Bansal, who top-scored with 41. Devang Kaushik of Chandigarh contributed 34, while Harish added 18.
Varun Singh Bhuie was the pick of the bowlers for Chhattisgarh, claiming an impressive six-wicket haul for 17 runs.
He was well supported by Vasudev Bareth, who took three wickets. In reply, Chhattisgarh began their chase cautiously. Jaskirat Singh Mehra struck twice early for Chandigarh, dismissing Pratham Jachak and Shobhit Sharma to provide an early opening. However, unbeaten Harsh Sahu (28) and Sahil Rajat Shariff (14) steadied the innings with an unbroken 41-run partnership.
