Ceiling panels at GMCH-32's newly constructed trauma centre damaged
Chandigarh, Jan. 24 -- The ceiling panels of the corridor leading to the parking lot, from the new trauma centre at Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, were damaged on Friday amid the wind.
Luckily, no one was injured though a security guard stationed at the spot had a narrow escape.
The construction of the Rs.52.77 crore trauma centre had been completed only recently, and thrown open to public in August lastyear. The panels were repaired by 3 pm.
Director principal Dr GP Thami and medical superintendent Dr Dasari Harish remained unavailable for comments.
The rain also led to water seepage and damage to laboratories, classrooms, corridors of Panjab University's geography department, where construction work has been on for the past few months.
Faculty members and students said water entered several rooms due to unresolved structural issues, including cracked walls. While the department chairperson was unavailable for comments, PUCSC president GauravveerSohal said authorities have assured completion of the work by February 15....
