Panchkula, May 2 -- A case has been registered at the Sector 5 police station where a 68-year-old man sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl living in the neighbourhood after allegedly luring the minor inside his shop. The victim's mother, a resident of Panchkula, had filed a complaint at the women's police station on April 30. A case under Section 8 of the POCSO Act was registered on the same day the accused was arrested and medically examined. In a move to curb the menace of overloaded vehicles, deputy commissioner Satpal Sharma conducted a surprise field inspection on Friday. He inspected vehicles near ITBP Bhanu, where four dumpers were intercepted. During the inspection, three dumpers carrying sand and one carrying gravel were found to be overloaded and operating without proper covers. Sharma directed the concerned officials to take immediate action and instructed the officials to seize the vehicles and issue challans.
