Chandigarh, March 21 -- Ace Indian rally driver Hari Singh, 59, remains missing in the Maldives following a speed boat accident on Thursday night. Singh was accompanied by Raymond Group chairman and managing director Gautam Singhania during the ride. While Singhania was rescued and brought back to Mumbai, where he is currently recovering in hospital, search operations are ongoing to trace the Chandigarh-based motorsport veteran. A six-time Indian rally champion, Singh was on holiday with friends, including Singhania and a former naval officer from Mumbai, when the speedboat they were travelling in capsized near Felidhoo Island in the early hours. According to local media reports in the Maldives, five Indian men, including Singh and Singhania, along with two women from the UK and Russia, were on board when the vessel capsized around 1.15 am local time. Singh's son has reached the Maldives to assist in efforts to locate him. Expressing concern, Federation of Motor Sport Clubs of India councillor Vicky Chandok said, "My heart pains to know Hari is missing. It has been over 24 hours."
