AAP govt failed to find solution to Mohali's garbage woes, says Mayor
Mohali, April 4 -- Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu on Friday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the state of having failed to find a solution to the garbage issue concerning the city. Sidhu, who inaugurated various development works across the city, also took potshots at local MLA Kulwant Singh, saying that the government should have provided a proper dumping ground.
The mayor, who owes allegiance to the Congress, inaugurated and inspected various civic projects in Phase 5, Shahi Majra, Sector 78 and adjoining areas. During his visit, he interacted with residents, listened to their grievances and flagged several issues related to civic infrastructure and sanitation, questioning what he termed as administrative negligence in addressing ground realities.
Sidhu said that despite generating massive revenue through the sale of land in Mohali, the government has failed to provide even basic facilities such as a proper dumping ground for waste management. He said that claims regarding developing a dumping site at Samgoli remain hollow, pointing out that even the approach road to the proposed site has not been constructed so far, further aggravating the city's garbage crisis instead of resolving it.
