70-yr-old duped of Rs.3 cr in digital arrest case
Dehradun, Feb. 22 -- A 70-year-old woman was duped of Rs.3.09crore in Dehradun by cyber fraudsters posing as CBI officers, police said. The FIR against unidentified people was registered at cyber police station in Dehradun under relevant sections.
In her complaint, the woman, said that on September 1, she received a call from a person claiming to be CBI Officer from Barakhamba road police station. "Subsequently, another individual claimed to be IPS Officer and intimidated using fabricated allegations," the complaint said.
"I was falsely informed that my Airtel mobile number would be blocked and that it was linked to a major money laundering case involving Rs.68 crore," she said. She was forced to transfer funds between September 9 and October 30 to several entities through different bank accounts.
SSP said, "We have registered the FIR on the matter and our investigation is underway."htc...
