Pune, Jan. 24 -- A seven-year-old boy has died after being run over by a speeding car while he was riding his bicycle in his residential in Pune, police said on Friday. The CCTV footage of the incident that took place on Monday in a gated colony of Loni Kalbhor area has since been widely shared on social media, triggering outrage. The child was identified as Nishkarsh Ashwat Swami, who lived in the Joy Nest Society with his family, police said. The video of the incident shown by TV channels and shared widely on social media on Friday showed the boy playing with his cycle on the society premises when a car hit him pushing him to the ground and then running him over. Police said Nishkarsh suffered serious head injuries and lost consciousness. He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead.
