300 arrested during drive against gangsters, peddlers
Chandigarh, April 1 -- As many as 214 individuals were arrested under the Punjab government's anti-gangster drive on Tuesday. With this, 18,056 persons have been arrested since the launch of the campaign on January 20.
Besides, preventive action has been taken against 70 persons.
Police teams from all the districts in coordination with anti-gangster task force (AGTF) has been conducting special operations across the state.
The teams have also arrested three proclaimed offenders during the operation, the police said.
Under the Yudh Nashian Virudh (anti-drug) campaign, 85 drug smugglers were arrested and 3.2-kg heroin, 586 intoxicating tablets/capsules along with Rs.21,780 drug money were seized.
People can anonymously report information related to wanted criminals and gangsters, and also share tips on crime and criminal activity. For de-addiction, the Punjab Police has convinced 20 persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Tuesday, police said....
