Barnala/Jalandhar, July 11 -- Road accidents snuffed out two lives in separate road accidents in Barnala and Jalandhar on Thursday. In Barnala, a private school bus veered off the road on the Mahal Kalan-Kalal Majra link road, resulting in the death of the bus conductor. However, no students were injured in the accident, the police said. Sherwinder Singh, station house officer (SHO), Mehal Kalan police station, said the accident occurred at 12.50 pm when the bus was carrying 32 students. The SHO stated that the bus went off the road and got stuck in the mud due to wet road conditions owing to the recent rains. He added that the conductor, Amritpal Singh, was standing near the door when the bus went off the road causing him to fall to the ground and get trapped under the vehicle. He was rushed to the civil hospital in Barnala, but declared dead. An investigation has been launched and a post-mortem examination of the deceased is scheduled for Friday. In another mishap in Jalandhar, a 33-year-old man died after his car lost control and turned turtle before hitting an electric pole on the roadside near Raipur Rasoolpur Ballan village on the Jalandhar-Pathankot national highway. The deceased was identified as Harmandeep Singh of Pathankot. The impact of the collision could be gauged from the fact that the victim's Hyundai Verna got damaged completely in the mishap. He was rushed to a local private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police alerted the victim'sfamily and sent the body for post-mortem examination....
