100 Bengal judges chosen to handle SIR voter claims
Kolkata, Feb. 23 -- At least 100 serving and retired district judicial officers have been appointed so far in West Bengal to adjudicate pending disputed voter claims during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the poll-bound state, officials aware of the details said on Saturday.
The Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court Sujoy Paul held a meeting with state bureaucrats and Election Commission of India (ECI) officials on Sunday.
At least 294 judicial officers - one for each of the 294 constituencies - are likely to be appointed to adjudicate 4.5 million disputed voter claims.
