India, Feb. 7 -- Days after the Delhi High Court directed the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to facilitate legal representation for Major Vikrant Jaitly (Retd.) in UAE, his sister, actor Celina Jaitly describes it as a long-awaited ray of hope. Speaking about the court's intervention after 17 months, Celina says "As a sister, stepping back was never an option," adding, "Protecting his rights and dignity is what kept me going." The 44-year-old shares that she first learnt about her brother's detention nearly a month after the incident, in September 2024, through his wife, Charu Jaitly. Following the order, UAE-based law firm Khalid Almarri Partners and Advocates will represent Vikrant. The firm is expected to seek an appointment to meet him and ascertain the grounds for his detention. "This order provides the necessary clarity and mandate to ensure coordinated action," says Celina . Over the past year and a half, the actor has consistently spoken about her brother's case, writing to authorities and relevant institutions while using her platform to raise awareness. "My brother was unable to speak for himself, and I knew that silence would only deepen his vulnerability," she says, adding, "Vikrant is my only immediate family after my three sons. Even on days when there was no response, no clarity, and no immediate relief, I believed persistence was the only way to ensure accountability." On Tuesday, the court directed the MEA to prepare a formal defence for Major Vikrant (Retd.)....
