Shriya on big screen return after 5 years
India, Jan. 9 -- Five years after her last theatrical release, Haathi Mere Saathi, Shriya Sachin Pilgaonkar is all set to return to the big screen in 2026 with the Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan-starrer Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan. Reflecting on the experience, the actor says, "I'm really enjoying myself and it's nice to be able to work with a filmmaker and actors whom you have grown up watching. I feel grateful I began my Hindi film career with Fan (2016) alongside Shah Rukh Khan, and now, after about a decade, I get to work with Saif and Akshay sir."
Shriya adds that her focus is now firmly on films. "At the beginning of this year, I was clear that I wanted to be out of my comfort zone and make fearless choices. My focus is definitely on the big screen, and being part of Haiwaan and working with Priyadarshan sir has been incredible," she says, adding, "While I feel grateful that I got to be a part of fantastic scripts on OTT, I don't want to be stereotyped as an actor who is only doing OTT."
Ask where this clarity comes from, and the 36-year-old explains, "I was always clear that I wanted to do films, but at times either the opportunities didn't align or they didn't go through. Sometimes timing and destiny also play a big role. But I think it's important to have a strong focus, and to be more intentional about it." Fans are also wondering if her big screen comeback might include Mirzapur: The Film, even though her character died in the series. On this, Shriya says, "I think some things should be left as surprises, and if at all they happen, it will be worth the wait."...
