Pitbull announces plan to set world record for largest gathering of people wearing bald caps
India, Feb. 19 -- A
merican rapper and singer-songwriter Armando Christian Perez aka Pitbull has set his sights on a new milestone, and it involves a sea of bald caps.
The 45-year-old took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce plans to attempt a Guinness World Records title for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps at his show in London on July 10.
He said in a statement, "Let me tell you how I feel about all the bald-e's that's gonna be putting it down. Every time you put on that bald cap, you know you're about to have the time of your lives. Dale!"
The festival's official page confirmed the record attempt, writing, "It's official. Let's make history." Notably, there is currently no existing record for the feat in the Guinness database, leaving the title up for grabs.
The idea builds on a growing trend of fans attending Pitbull's concerts in bald caps, aviator sunglasses and tailored suits, a tribute to the rapper's style. After the concept gained momentum, plans for the record attempt quickly fell into place.
Organisers have already issued specific guidelines to ensure the record stands. Fans must have their bald caps "secured firmly on the head, with hair tucked under at the front and top", though hair is permitted to hang from the back. Organisers say further details on how fans can participate will be shared closer to the concert date.
