Only took 49 years: Def Leppard turns Mumbai into an '80s singalong

ef Leppard's long-awaited India debut hit a high note in Mumbai, where the band performed to a crowd already singing along. Their three-city tour began in Shillong (March 25), moved to Mumbai (March 27), and will conclude in Bengaluru (March 29).
At Jio World Garden, BKC, the energy was electric as opening act Indus Creed set the tone before Def Leppard took the stage to roaring cheers. "Namaste Mumbai. it's only been 49 years, but we're good to be here," frontman Joe Elliott joked, drawing loud applause.
The band, comprising Elliott, Phil Collen, Vivian Campbell, Rick Savage and Rick Allen, delivered a set blending classic anthems with later hits. Tracks like Rock of Ages, Animal, Photograph and Foolin' turned the evening into a massive singalong, with fans across generations joining in.
"There's some old, some new," Elliott said, reflecting both the crowd and the setlist. He also recalled the band's early days in 1977, saying they never imagined performing in India.
Celebrities including Preity Zinta, Dino Morea and Vikramaditya Motwane were spotted at the gig. The night ended on a high with Pour Some Sugar on Me, capping a nostalgic, high-energy debut for the band in India....
