India, Feb. 3 -- B oxer and former Rajya Sabha member MC Mary Kom issued a clarification in an Instagram video on Sunday, following backlash over her remarks about her ex-husband, Onler Kom, during a television show last month. She had accused him of cheating her of crores earned through her boxing career and alleged that, despite being a man, he lived off her income. In the video now, Mary said her comments stemmed from "years of suppressed pain, depression, feeling used, and betrayal" that had surfaced. Speaking in Hindi, the 43-year-old added, "I want to clarify this: it is not that my marriage was never successful. Everything was fine for many years. But later, when the trust completely broke, things changed. Despite this, I want to clarify that even after my divorce, in April 2025, and even after a press release circulated against me, I did not give any statement publicly or to the media. I have always conducted myself with dignity and restraint." About her comment on Onler leaving his career as a footballer to support their family, Mary said her comments were wrongly interpreted and that she didn't target any particular sport. "I am absolutely not against youth football, culture, or the football fraternity. I am a boxer, but I love football from the heart and I myself like playing football. My comment was not for any sport or players," she said. Mary also went on to apologise to the wider male community, who were hurt by her comments made on the show, saying, "Woh moment mere liye emotionally overwhelming thha." HTC...
