India, Feb. 7 -- Every Rose Day tells two stories, one of affection, and the other of economics. As couples and friends exchange flowers on Rose Day today, florists in Maharashtra prepare for their busiest week of the year with the start of Valentine's Week. A single rose in Andheri, Mumbai now costs around Rs.100, double its starting price of Rs.50 last month. A bouquet of 10 roses, which normally sells for Rs.750, has now jumped to Rs.2,000 at premium stores during the month of love, which is the starting cost. Despite the hike, buyers continue to flock to flower shops, proving that sentiment outweighs spending. Netra Barreto, a 10th-grade student shares, "I feel prices shouldn't change because of the occasion, but I get that it's beneficial for vendors since it's peak season for roses." On quick-commerce platforms, however, there was some relief from soaring prices, where a single rose was available at discounted prices of Rs.49-Rs.59 compared to its usual Rs.100-Rs.149....
