India, Feb. 5 -- A ctor-comedian Kapil Sharma appeared to take a subtle dig at gangsters during an event in Mumbai on Tuesday. The remark comes months after his cafe in Canada was targeted in a shooting incident, for which gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang had claimed responsibility on social media last year. While introducing Kapil at the event, the host quipped in Hindi, "Hamari nazar, India ki nazar toh bahut time se aap par hai, Kapil. Hopefully, 11 mulko ki police ki nazar nahi hone chahiye." Kapil, 44, responded with a light-hearted but pointed remark: "Ek do mulkon ke gangster bhi lage hue hain aaj kal," hinting at international gangster threats. Realising the sensitivity of the comment, he laughed and asked the videographers to cut the clip. Moments later, he appeared to realise the event was being broadcast live and asked how much more would be recorded. Kapil and his wife, actor Ginni Chatrath, opened Kap's Cafe in Surrey, Canada, in early July 2025. The cafe was reportedly fired upon three times in four months, in July, August, and October. Bishnoi's associates, identified as Goldy Dhillon and Kuldeep Sidhu, alias Kulveer Sidhu, later claimed responsibility for the attacks on social media, warning the general public to stay away from the establishment.
