India, Jan. 14 -- Celebrating Makar Sankranti today, actor Bhagyashree reflects on cherished childhood memories and the personal rituals she follows each year. She speaks about tradition, wellness, and what the festival's promise of new beginnings truly means to her. Recalling how she celebrated the festival as a child, she says, "For Makar Sankranti we used to go to our nani (granmother) house in Vadodara, Gujarat. That was where we would get to see so many different types of kites. My nanaji and mama would teach us how to fly them." The 56-year-old adds, "But now that we are aware of the harm that some manjha can cause to birds while kite flying is something we avoid, although it is beautiful to see kites in the sky." For Bhagyashree, Makar Sankranti isn't just about kites. The actor loves making traditional dishes at home. She says, "Tilgul are everyone's favourite, but there is a Rajasthani sweet called til siri, which is similar to til papdi but much finer and thinner, crispy like paper... That is something I really enjoy, and of course, til ka gajak!"...
