We speak to travel expert Aviral Gupta, CEO at Zo World and Zostel who shares five ways to start conversations easily with strangers. Where you stay can shape how connected or isolated your trip feels. The right environment elicits smooth conversation. Aviral says, "Hostels with shared lounges, breakfast tables or rooftop spots make it easier for strangers to become familiar." Heavy luggage can lead to unnecessary stops. With lighter bags, rough terrain, and shared transport becomes far easier. Also, when you travel light, you can easily join impromptu detours and keep moving easily. Food brings people together, especially when travelling. It helps break tension and creates comfort. Group travel requires emotional awareness and giving personal space while also being attentive. "Some people need time before they open up. Giving them space without disappearing is the sweet spot. When people feel no pressure to socialise, they relax and connect naturally," says Aviral.
