'I still want to do fiction TV, but all I am offered is daily soaps'
India, May 7 -- A
fter nearly a decade-long gap from television - the medium that made him a household name with shows such as Kahiin To Hoga and Left Right Left - actor Rajeev Khandelwal returned with the game show Tum Ho Naa this month.
Contrary to popular belief, the actor says he remains open to working in fiction shows on TV. "I've always wanted to do television, but I'm only offered daily soaps. This lack of experimentation has kept me away from fiction TV. I'm still waiting to do something in that space again, but no one has explored the limited-episode format on television yet," he says.
The 50-year-old adds, "After Kahiin To Hoga, I was flooded with offers for daily soaps, I could have made a lot of money. But I wanted to test myself and offer audiences something different. I didn't want to be part of the herd mentality."
His other popular show, Left Right Left completes 20 years in 2026, and Rajeev thinks it deserves a reboot. "My character went missing at the end because I wasn't willing to let it turn into a daily soap. I felt it should conclude rather than be stretched. The makers and the channel weren't happy with my decision, but that's also why the show became a cult classic. If any of my shows were to be rebooted, it has to be Left Right Left," he ends....
