Sri Lanka, Oct. 23 -- Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala, stated in Parliament last afternoon (22) that the murder of Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Lasantha Wickramasekara, also known as 'Midigama Lasa,' was the result of a conflict among criminals.

Minister Wijepala confirmed that while the incident involved a public representative, it poses no threat to overall public safety.

He explained that organized criminals in the country, who possess weapons, were involved in armed conflicts among themselves.
